About Us - Extended:
So, a little bit more about this film: It comes as part of our second year work as film students. We chose our groups and were tasked with making a 10-minute film over the course of the year, with semester 1 (Sep-24 to Dec-24) being dedicated to Pre-Production, and semester 2 (Feb-25 to May-25) commencing the Production Phase. This means that we have everything that we need to know about the film in place, this phase is simply putting it all in motion.
As mentioned, we have our Pre-Production plan in place. With this, the following page will display what this film really is, including ripreels, logbooks, and much more to show you what we have to look forward to!
Synopsis
Martin enters an Isolation Experiment in order to make some desperately needed money for him and his partner. As the experiment wears Martin down, he learns that he is not alone in this experiment. Fighting with everything he has, will Martin be able to make it out alive and make a difference to his life?
Characters
Martin, a man in his mid-20s, is the protagonist of our film. He doesn't often think before he does something, leading to a few mistakes along the course of his journey.
Martin has a rough-and-ready look, with bags under his eyes and wearing basic T-Shirts & Jeans.
The Researcher is integral to the film, overlooking the Isolation Experiment and going as far as to put Martin in there himself.
He has a sly look about him, as though he knows something you don't. He wears a lab coat and half-moon glasses.
Noah is Martin's partner, he is kind and caring. He balances out Martin's chaotic nature with his level-headed approach to life.
He is very full of life, a trait best represented through his very saturated and colourful clothing.
'The Thing' has spent its time preying on victims of the Isolation Experiment, looking for its perfect host to latch on to. Will it find Martin to be a suitable host as he is all alone?
'The Thing' only shows itself in shadows, it has no other form.

"My dream job role would probably be writer, although I'm definitely outspoken and organised enough to be a producer! I have plenty of experience in Film & TV so far, having made a few films at University (as Director, Writer, Producer, & Editor), and been involved in TV Productions such as 'Children in Need' & 'Eat Well For Less'. With exciting things ahead as I start to finalise my 2nd of 3 years at University, I am thrilled to be working on this film and genuinely hope to get the best outcome possible!"

"Hi, I'm Beth! I like bringing ideas to life. Be it through a story or even making props, I just like creating! I have made a few short films in College and University. Some films went well, and some went wrong, but from each I took a lesson, my skills grew in the industry and made me stronger. I would like to one day be able to be part of the creative department of the industry."

"My name is Mel (they/them please!) and I’m the writer of Solitude! I originally came up with the concept when I was in college, and it’s so exciting that it’s becoming real. I’ve always loved writing, and although I’d like to be an editor in the future, writing stories and screenplays will forever be one of my favourite hobbies.
I particularly like writing about my characters’ mental state, so this screenplay was particularly fun as I really got to delve into the human mind."

"I originally wanted to be an editor, but my passion for cinematography grew after working as a camera operator on Hellbound and My Friend Molly. Those experiences sparked my interest in lighting and how it shapes a story.
I studied film for two years in America before moving to the UK, where I’m now in my second year of a three-year program. As a DoP, I focus on creating compelling visuals that enhance storytelling, and I’m excited to bring that vision to this project."
